Streamwood deserves leaders that are independent, responsible
and prudent. Billie Roth's track record demonstrates that she has all of these qualities.Billie
Roth has cut taxes, increased services and worked tirelessly to build a stronger,
safer and greener village. She has established a model of effective, responsible
government that answers to the voters and she will continue to build upon that record.
I. Accomplishment: Billie Roth has been involved in government for over 20 years. In
that time, she has cut taxes, increased services and attracted responsible economic
growth to the Northwest suburbs.
Billie cut taxes, while rebuilding the streets, water
mains, sewers and essential government services in her town. By carefully husbanding
tax dollars, she eliminated Streamwood's debt, reduced crime and attracted commercial,
industrial and residential development. In the past seven years alone, the village
has added over 500,000 square feet of new commercial development, over 1,000 new
homes and reclaimed a light industrial park from land that was previously thought
to be unusable.An unapologetic independent, Billie's record is one of service, not
politics as usual. Named "Illinois Citizen of the Year" by the FBI National Academy,
Billie is also active in numerous charitable and community service organizations
that serve the Northwest suburbs.
II. Integrity:
Whatever the issue, Billie Roth's final decision boils to a simple choice: do the
right thing. When buyers faced the possible loss of tens of thousands of dollars
when a residential development went wrong, Billie would not rest until they were
fully compensated and the development rescued, though most everyone said that it
could not be done.
When her reform program was challenged during her first
stint in municipal government, she refused to be swayed, and succeeded in building
a model of responsible government. Billie Roth has stood for government as it ought
to be, instead of government that we are all too often used to.
As our Village President, she will continue that tradition
of service, helping to build the even stronger village that our residents deserve.
III. Independence: Billie has maintained a reputation for independence throughout her
entire public-service career. She is a compromiser and conciliator. Her record of
listening to residents and fellow board members, and then helping the board find
a point of consensus on important issues, is without equal.
